What's this concept of charity? All I've known lately is the government takes from their citizens and spends where it sees fit.

The thing is, even with the government trying to be Robin Hood all the time, there still an awful lot of money "redistributed" VOLUNTARILY through charity such as this. The assumption behind government financial coercion, that people are evil and will not help their fellow man unless forced, is completely wrong. Sure, there are a few Grinches out there, but the majority of people actually enjoy helping others. Imagine how much more of this would happen if government tyranny and taxation wasn't making everyone struggle just to feed their families.
