Eight children and an adult were killed and several other people were injured in a raging fire that erupted late last night and gutted a four-story Bronx home that four immigrant families shared, the Fire Department said. Witnesses told of large plumes of smoke and unconscious children being tossed out of windows to people waiting to try to catch them.
